The roots of Saint Mary Parish in Alpha, NJ find their origin in those people whose hearts and hands built the very foundation of the original church. Over one-hundred years of growth, we have witnessed through our close-knit community a spiritual growth that stems from the presence of the church in our area. United with those first parishioners by a common baptism as members of the Catholic Church, we pledge ourselves to continue what they began.
The Parish of St. Mary is a community of Catholic Christians supporting one another in every possible way in their common struggle to live the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
We believe in one God who is our Father and who created us for eternal life.
We believe that God became man in Jesus to teach us, and to show us, how to attain that goal.
We believe that Jesus Christ established a Church as a community of those who believe in Him, and that He endowed the Church with His own wisdom and authority to teach and preach His name, and to interpret and apply His Gospel for all people, for all time.
We believe that the Church which He founded is the Catholic Church, united as always from the beginning and throughout the world under Peter and his successors.
We further believe that without the real support of Christian community, without the strength which only comes to us from Christ through the sacraments, without the guidance of His Spirit, we could never hope to succeed in living as He lived.
We are therfore committed to being a support to one another by our example; by our common worship; by our unanimous profession of, and fidelity to, a common faith; by the sharing of our diverse strengths and by the mutual acknowledgement of our weaknesses; by our unity with our Catholic brothers and sisters throughout the world; and by simple human friendship.
We find in our community reassurance in the faith, encouragement in Gospel living, mutuality in worship, security in the inspired guidance of the church, support on need and the warmth of human relationships.
If you hunger for reasurance, encouragement, mutuality, security, support and warmth, and if you believe and trust in God your Father and recognize Him in His Son Jesus Christ, then please consider becoming part of His Church.
If you are new to the area, we would like to welcome you to the larger community of Warren County.
If you have been a neighbor, we would like to know you better and make ourselves better known to you.
If you are a Catholic but currently inactive, we urge you to come home to the family of the faith, among your brothers and sisters, in the Church where you first met Christ and believed.
If you are searching, we would like to share your search, to pray for you and with you, and to share with you the meaning we have found in our own lives.
The life of our parish community engages us in four areas, each reflecting an aspect of the life of the Gospel: worship, discipleship, fellowship and stewardship.
